Hey guys!
It's already super late and we have to be up by 6am tomorrow morning to purchase airplane tickets to our next town. I just wanted to let ya'll know that we arrived safely. Good enough, right?
I had enough time in Houston to mail a few letters as well as grab my last taste of american food with Jared when we ran into a airport SUBWAY. Praise the Lord! haha
The Managua Airport is incredibly small for being the capital (Dad, you were right).
We were immediately surrounded by "airport workers" insisting on helping us with our luggage - unfortunately they demand payment, or as they put it: "donations - from whatever you can find in the depths of your heart," in return. We handed each of them $1.00 and moved on quickly. This same situation happened almost three times - even though we insisted that we didn't need help and asked them not to - they were most eager to help us in return for "american cash."
We finally met up with Dr. Caldera and his wife - they seem really nice. Even though they live near Managua I guess they will be coming to Tasba Raya from January-April - so we're looking forward to that.
After checking into our Best Western hotel, getting settled, and briefly skyping with people from home (Yay! wireless!), we all decided that we were going to adventure. But because it was already 11pm, we ended up exploring the hotel premises. It was so cool though! Everything is so tropical and we heard all sorts of noises. Bat's swooped down on us (ugh!), and we found a bunch of geckos snapping at little knats around the lights. Pretty cool. I guess we'll be able to see everything better when the sun rises again.
So this is our last internet for a while i think - i'm sure i'll be able to tell you a lot more then - Dr. Caldera said that we'll have a miniature orientation when we finally all get to Tasba Raya.
Thanks for all your prayers - we're such newbies down here!
